About Canadian FOI Insights Repository
Raison d'ĂȘtre
Public records are useful only when people can find them, understand them, compare them, and follow up on them. This repository exists to make Canadian transparency records easier to preserve, search, explain, and connect to public-interest analysis.
The first apps are OPQ Alert for parliamentary Order Paper Questions and ATIP Alert for Access to Information records. More FOI collections can be added later without turning the project into one large complicated system.
Technical Details
The portal is intentionally simple: plain PHP, HTML, CSS, CSV files, PDFs, TXT summaries, and a flat r/ repository folder inside each app.
| Path | Purpose |
|---|---|
/foi/ | Parent portal and family navigation. |
/foi/opq/ | OPQ Alert app. |
/foi/atip/ | ATIP Alert app. |
/foi/*/r/ | Flat public repository for PDFs, TXT summaries, and optional source files. |
opq_index.csv, atip_index.csv | Main metadata indexes. |
Public Participation
You do not need to be a programmer to help. You can suggest a record, correct metadata, add a source link, submit an ATIP or OPQ, or help explain why a document matters.
